I am new to vacumn sealers. Can I use this to seal a bag of soup?

Yes. KitchenBoss vacuum sealer has several modes :"INCHING" for soft foods like bread; "VAC SEAL" for wet & dry foods like frozen meat, vegetables; "SEAL ONLY" for sealing without vacuuming. So you you can press "SEAL ONLY" to seal soup.
